In a country with this kind of crisis, the minimum reforestation strategy has two goals:
1. Replacement trees must be planted in overwhelming numbers and have special protection, significance and a head start over their future removal. Otherwise, the forests that can emerge from trees may never appear.
2. Not only must the trees be highly valued and protected, but also every Haitian young and old who starts, grows, plants and cares for them must be educated, employed and respected.<<more |
